A well known educational trainer, consultant and author of many early years publications, Penny is now a sought after guest speaker both in the UK and internationally. Penny is an advisory to awarding bodies and local education authorities in England. Penny is also an author, amongst her titles are; Planning Play and the Early Years and practical EYFS Handbook.

Keynote Presentation: Building Language through Relationships

Relationships play a fundamental role in a child’s desire to gain language. This presentation looks at the links between relationships and language learning with particular regard to children who may be learning more than one language.



A specialist in working with early years practitioners and parents, concerning the provision of play for young children, Alice is currently working with the Welsh Assembly in developing multi-sensory learning. Also an author, Alice’s books include; Planning and Learning in the Early Years and 100 Learning Games for 0-3 years.

Keynote Presentation: Enriching Environments for the Early Years

Anyone who has watched children playing in a well planned and well resourced environment with involved adults will have observed the joy and excitement the children experience as they learn new skills and make fresh discoveries. Delegates will be invited to explore a variety of enriched environments and experiences both indoors and outdoors that will fully immerse children in exciting, enriched learning.

 


A poet and educator, Peter has written a number of poetry books for children including ‘Grow your Own Poems’ and ‘Penguin in the Fridge’. He has also written books for parents and teachers, ‘Weepers’ and more recently ‘Colour My Dreams’.

Peter’s often irreverent view of a child’s education has a serious message – that children should be allowed to be themselves and learning should be part of their everyday experience. Peter is passionate about children’s absolute right to enjoy their childhood.

 


As Academic Director of Montessori Centre International in London Barbara trains practitioners and speaks at high profile conferences internationally. She has been instrumental in ensuring that Montessori is part of the new EYFS framework in England and believes in all practitioners working together in the best interest of the child. Barbara has written the book “Bringing the Montessori Approach to Your Early Years Setting” and also “The Guide to EYFS in Montessori” for the Department of Education.

The introduction of Montessori principles in this challenging learning environment has brought benefits to the children, their families and the staff in the school. Barbara will explain the origins of the project and discuss the role of training Montessori teachers in ensuring that the Manchester project could be sustained.
